Health Policy Interest Group

What does Health Policy mean to you?

How Does Health Policy affect me?

When is policy relevant to my life?

HPIG at MSU serves both the MSU-COM and MSU-CHM communities. We strive to help you answer these questions, to get involved in whatever interest you, and provide an introduction to health policy. It is not our goal to shape your decisions and direction. We want to help you accomplish your own objectives. A physician's duties extend beyond the exam room. YOU ARE or WILL BE your patient's primary advocate. It is vital to understand the process of policy, and to take an active role in shaping it!!!

Health Policy shapes every aspect of healthcare. From what treatments a doctor can perform, to how medicaid is distributed, to student debt and residency slots... Policy is a part of everything!

What Do we want to do?

~Simply, HPIG wants to help you get what you want out of health policy. If you have an interest, idea, question, direction, whatever, contact us and we will help that come to fruition!

~In November Physicians for Human Rights and HPIG met with lobbyist Jean Doss for a Q&A, and a little inspiration!

~We are hoping to have a representative speak from the Michigan Osteopathic Association.

~We would also like to have a talk regarding medicaid vs. medicare.

~Capitol House Call in April, provides may opportunities for HPIG to work with the exciting event.
